April Meeting Review

A Relaxing Toe-Tappin’ Time

The Sunday afternoon April 12 Arts Meeting was a lively one held in the Community Center of Westminster Village. It was filled with a twenty-five-voice choir of resident Westminster Singers under the direction of Steve Newman, retired Associate Pastor of Music at the Baptist Church in Terre Haute. Their program of music was entitled, “Songs of Love and Friendship.”  It was a toe tappin’ time as the singers sang, “I Love you-a Bushel and Peck” and “You’re  Never Fully Dressed without a Smile.”  The audience loved their elegant “Let there be Peace on Earth” and other selections showing their rich full blend of voices. Dr. Sheron Daily, retired ISU Professor of Speech and Oral Interpretation, served as the Narrator, guiding the listeners through each number with a bit about the selection.  Sylvia Hansen and Steve Newman played four- handed piano for several popular songs and gave an awesome performance of Bach’s Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring. Refreshments of cookies, punch, and fruit combined with conversation ended the relaxing afternoon among Westminster Village residents and Singers, visitors, community members, and members of the Woman’s Department Club
